sisterhood. But do you know that in French the word sisterhood simply does not exist? Brotherhood or Fraternité are of course highly recommandable. But sisterhood, in French sororité, to counterbalance Fraternité, is in NO Dictionary!!
It clearly means that feminine solidarity has never been taken into account - nor even been desirable in our societies.
That is why I want to end my speech with a quoting of Luce Irigaray, a feminist writer, which opened my eyes when read it:
<>Wmn's distrust for one another has been kept up because it served as cement for the whole male fabric. When we hate our mothers, when we break off with them, we comply, without our knowledge, to the male law and order. I never met a woman who wasn't distressed by this situation.
And Irrigaray's conclusion is: By loving their own kind, women will gradually revalidate the <>image of womanhood"
