male half of humanity. one underestimates
the impact of such a situation on the image
of women: the image that appears to others
and the image they have of themselves.
And how could things ever change?
How could they escape that domination since
they had no power whatsoever and no access
to speaking and still less to writing?
the illiteracy of women - what J.J.Rousseau
called "their delightful ignorance" stayed a
permanent rule of patriarchal societies, they had
understood very soon that education or schooling
is dangerous, it was the first step towards freedom and the basement of all rebellion !
